
Leona Catherine Mick, 91, of Sarasota, FL passed away peacefully to eternal rest and peace at Weaver Haus on May 1, 2015. She was born Dec. 2, 1923, to John L. and Mary (Overholt) King in Lynnhaven, VA and they moved to Uniontown, Ohio when she was six weeks old. There she lived most of her life. She worked as an LPN at Akron Children's Hospital in her younger years. She married Fred R. Mick in 1957, and they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary three days before she passed. Fred was a compassionate and very dedicated caregiver to Leona in her last years. Leona was known for her sweet, kind, and gentle personality, beautiful house plants and flower beds, and immaculate house. She had many friends. Also surviving are two daughters: Mary Jo (John) Fohner, of Mills River, NC and Sharon (Alvin) Zook of Uniontown, Ohio; four grandchildren: Kara (Jesse) Donovan, David, Joshua and Hannah Fohner; two brothers: Glenn King and Leon (Ellen) King; one sister, Arlene (Richard) Miller; one sister-in-law, Mary Mick, and many nieces and nephews. She was a faithful member of Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church. A memorial service was held at Sarasota Mennonite Church on Sunday, May 3rd. Calling hours will be held from 3 - 5 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6th, at Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church. The funeral at the church will be held at 10:00 a.m., and graveside services afterward at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
