Oliver James Hart, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Castine, Maine, died on March 15, 2016. Jim was born in Macon, Georgia, to the Rt. Rev. Oliver James Hart and Mary Mikell Hart, and grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and later Washington, D.C., where he attended St. Alban’s School. From St. Alban’s, he went on to Williams College and, after service as an officer in the Army Air Corps during the Second World War, to the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania in 1950. Jim spent most of his professional career with the Philadelphia Electric Company and later served as an Adjunct Professor at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. Jim was a member of Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. In addition to engineering, Jim loved golf, duplicate bridge and his family and many friends. Jim is survived by his wife Carolyn Hill Hart, his sons from his first marriage to the late Rosamond Stanwood Hart, Christopher and Charles, and two grandsons, William and Owen Hart of Haddonfield, New Jersey. Jim will be dearly missed by all. A memorial service in Castine is planned for this coming summer.
