

She was born in Keene, NH March 2, 1929, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Dawes) McKernon. Pat attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Keene High School in 1946.
Pat started her employment with The Keene Evening Sentinel while in high school. She left this employment when her husband was called back into the U.S. Navy to serve in Jacksonville, FL during the Korean War. Upon returning to Keene, Pat continued at the Sentinel off and on until her retirement at age 58.
She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She was the “Cookie Mom” of the River Street neighborhood. Her excellent seamstress abilities crafted many clothes for her children and husband.
During retirement, Pat and Dale traveled, enjoying two cross country auto trips to see their son Mark in Coronado, CA and their daughter Andrea in Sonoma, CA. They visited many National Parks and historic sites. They also traveled with friends to several Caribbean Islands and to Canada. Summers were spent on Stone Pond in Dublin, NH. Winters were enjoyed in Holiday Park in North Port, FL. Beachcombing was a favorite activity.
In Florida, Pat was active in the Holiday Park “Just Us Girls” club. She was also a very active volunteer in the Men’s Club benefit yard sales.
Pat recently said, “I had a very happy life”. She was a witty and kind person right to the end.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Dale Christopherson of Dublin, NH and North Port, FL, her daughters Jennie (John) Newcombe of Keene, NH and Andrea (Stephen) Cook of Sonoma, CA, and her son Mark (Pepi) Christopherson of Keene, NH. Her daughter Keron (John “Jack”) Ainsworth of Winchester, NH predeceased her.
She also leaves behind nine very loving grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Pat is also predeceased by her sisters; Esther (George) Kellogg, Bernice “Bunny” (Louis “Bud”) Fagnant and Anna (Joseph) Poisson.

Any services will be announced at a later date. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home in Sarasota, FL is in charge of the arrangements.
