A fellow member of IPC has sadly left us.  Thank you Dick for your time and effort at our church in Brussels.  You have not been forgotten despite the years.  My condolences to your family.  Bonnie Sher

What a charismatic person! Always smiling and friendly, no matter how tough the situation was. Dick and I worked together for Chi-Chi's restaurants, travelled to many places together through our job and had a lot of fun. But we, my wife, Catherine, and I also enjoyed each other's compagny with his wife Jane, hiking together in Germany along the Moselle river, or racing down the skiing slopes in Austria or supporting him during his Iron man challenge in Frankfurt/Germany. We spent some lovely times together in Sarasota where we lived for a few months. We shall never forget his grin and mischievous look when we were in Austria throwing snow balls at each other. He was so much fun and always ready for a prank.
It is hard to accept we shall not spend time together any more.
But those memorable happy times will remain in our hearts for ever.

The members of MacArthur High School’s class of 1964 have a multitude of fond recollections of shared experiences with Dick to treasure forever.     I well remember the school records he set as punter for MHS’s football team.  My sympathy to his extended family.  The other classmates and I will miss him.  On behalf of the 1964 Generals, I submit this tribute as sophomore class president.  RIP, Dick.

Dick was my college roommate at Florida State U. We were fraternity brothers with Sigma Phi Epsilon. To this day he was probably one of the smartest guys ive known in my life. Plus, he was practical. He use to question me on everything, why this, why that. I loved it because it made me think about my comments or actions before they left my brain. I thanked him again and again in later years for that mentoring.
We had a lot of fun in our early years. We would jump on motorcycles and head to the beach for the wknd. Free as a bird. We smiled many times later in life when we thought of those college days together.

We began reunions about 10 years ago thanks to another Fraternity brother , Rudy Hubbard. We visited FSU, Houston and Dicks Sarasota community for three or four days at time. Those reunions were special for many reasons. Dick was hampered with his illness but that didnt slow him down. We fished, laughed, drank and ate like we were college kids. We laughed alot! Pic Hearn, another fraternity brother, reminded us of all the good times while in school. We laughed some more. Dick was always reminding us of the precious time we all had left and to use it wisely. He was our guiding light.

Dick spoke fondly always of his wife Jane. At our reunions he was always complimenting her. That was fun and rewarding to see. I loved the man for who he was, how he inspired and his regard for genuine living. I am so thankful i had him in my life. God speed Richard!!

We were sorry to learn of Dick’s passing.  He and I were childhood friends from elementary through high school and shared many good times.  Dick was a natural athlete…he was one of the MacArthur Generals star football players and always seemed to be in training.  He was the Best Man in our wedding. During the years he lived in Kentucky we enjoyed his culinary talent on many occasions.  Joan still makes his Linguini and Clam Sauce from the handwritten recipe he gave her.  On our visits to the Outer Banks, we looked forward to dinners together and one year went on a deep-sea fishing trip that yielded 300 pounds of yellowfin tuna.  A memorable day!  In recent years, we saw each other less, but we always kept Dick in our thoughts and prayers as he navigated the last uphill battle.  Heaven has welcomed him…a talented man with a big heart. My deepest sympathy.
The trip to San Francisco, when Dick and Tom did the swim from Alcatraz was amazing. I will always appreciate your rescuing us by driving to Stinson Beach. We had an on again, off again, tracking app trying to follow our hike. 
Dick’s tragic decline from the ravages of Parkinson disease was something I hope to never witness with another friend.
I can not imagine the suffering both you and he endured.
