Agnes passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024 with her daughters by her side. She is predeceased by her husband-Arnold, parents-Bertha and Adolph Ritter, sister-Adelma English, brothers-Bert, Bernard & Alfred Ritter, and son-in-law Larry Lemke. Left to mourn are her daughters: Brenda Kriese [Brianna-Alex; Melanie (Jordan)-Levi, Paulina, Elijah; Logan]; Rhonda Lemke [Laryssa (Brendan)-Koa; Riley (Kaelyn)-Brinley; Liana (Will)-Mia; Barb Kriese (Scott); sister Evelyn Roussy; numerous nieces and nephews, and special nephew David Welsh (Linda). Agnes was born in the family farmhouse near Guernsey, SK and held a special connection to the area as she remained a country girl at heart and visited the area often. Growing up was not easy for her family as newcoming settlers to Canada. Agnes went through many changes during her lifetime going from horse and buggy to car transportation, along with major technological advancements. Agnes was involved with the marching band in the area and was proud to play lead trumpet. She moved to Saskatoon to attend Robertson Secretarial School and she worked with various companies, ultimately retiring with the Saskatoon Public School Division after 25 years of service in September 2000. Agnes met and married the love of her life, Arnold, in 1959, purchased their home and started a family soon after. In their earlier years, Agnes and Arnold loved going to dances and their jive would rock your socks off! Agnes had a passion of love in caring for her beautiful flowers and large productive gardens year after year. She loved all the family camping/fishing trips and would frequently join Arnold for goose and duck hunting in the area she grew up in. Both Agnes and Arnold supported all their kids and grandkids in many ways, and took the role of #1 fans at their sporting events. Mom’s family was her pride and joy. She brought everyone together for Sunday suppers so all could enjoy her fabulous cooking. She was an amazing cook! Mom and dad loved travelling to places which included visits to Alaska, BC, Europe, the US, Hawaii, Mexico and Cuba. Most trips were enjoyed with Evelyn and Manny. Mom LOVED playing Kaiser, especially when having no-trump hands. She experienced a 12-point Kaiser hand 5 days before her passing and this 86 year old lady wanted to keep on playing into the early morning hours. Mom’s faith and trust in God carried her through all challenges in her life. Our dear Mother/Grandmother/Oma was loved beyond measure, will always be missed and remains forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Arthritis Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (627 Taylor Street East, Saskatoon).
