Al passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2022. Just as he dealt with most experiences in life, Al managed his illness with strength and grace. With the desire to spend as much time as possible with his family, Al was surrounded by his loving family and a beautiful view out back on his final day.
Al was born in Lestock, SK on Oct. 8, 1939 to Anne and Steve Macza. He spent his childhood on his family farm where his character was shaped by the hard work and wonderful times with his 6 siblings.
Al was a natural at many sports. His passions included baseball, curling and golf. As in life, he played with integrity and respect - a no nonsense kind of guy who insisted on playing by the rules, showing up on time and understanding the value of a hard day's work.
Al had a career in banking and wealth management. After an early retirement, he was able to spend a further 20 seasons on the golf course and enjoy numerous European adventures with family.
Al is predeceased by his parents Steve and Anne; brothers Jim, Bill, Alex and sisters Margaret and Louise. He will be remembered and missed by his brother Gary (Liz), loving wife Hazel and their four children: Beckie (Hannah, Rhea, Holden) Jason, Tyler (Cole) and Terra (Mary, Sam, Nola) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to Dr. Iqbal at the Cancer Clinic, Dr. Duval, Dr. Spealy in the Vascular department, and the palliative care and home care teams who all treated Dad with the utmost care and respect.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Agars Corner on Highway 16 & Floral Road on Friday, July 15 at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan https://cancerfoundationsask.ca/. Arrangements entrusted to Aime Laventure.
