July 16, 1925 – April 27, 2016
Alfred was born in Berlin-Tempelhof, Germany and passed away at Porteous Lodge in Saskatoon, SK. He is survived by his loving wife Johanna; son George (Joanne) Mueller of Saskatoon; daughters Carmen Wright (Garry) of Langley, BC and Sylvia Regnier (Robert) of Saskatoon; his sister Herta Asmuss of Saskatoon; grandchildren Gabriel, Daniel, Angela, Maria, Ryan, Chelsey, Claire and Maxwell; great-grandchildren Raphael, Giselle and James. Alfred was a skilled cabinet maker. In 1958 he ventured to Canada in search of a future for his family. With support of his brother-in-law George Asmuss and his sister Herta, Alfred found work in Saskatoon. After a year he decided to make Saskatchewan home. Johanna, Sylvia and George boarded the Seven Seas to join Alfred in Saskatoon. During the first years in the new country the German Club provided support for the family. He worked at high grade Millwork for many years before joining John East Iron Works. Alfred created many amazing cabinets and helped friends with carpentry projects, including the Asmuss family cabin at Emma Lake. From childhood onward Alfred’s passion for soccer remained strong. Yet from the beginning Alfred also developed a love for Canadian hockey, often cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. We would like to thank the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital for the kind care during Alfred’s cancer journey. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Chep Good Food Inc. (1120-20th St. W, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Y8) or to a charity of your choice. A Come and Go Celebration will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Windsor Chapel - Lower Hall (704 Windsor Street).
