Anna Kondraski, (LaPointe) (nee Demish) peacefully passed on December 25, 2021 with family at her side. Anna loved life and was a loving support to all. She was a woman of grace and we were all privileged to have her as our model of courage and fortitude. She was God’s Good Servant.
Anna, born at Barford SK, May 07, 1928 to Mary and George Demish, grew up and worked the family farm at McKague SK. As a young woman she left for the Certified Nurse’s Aid program at the Grey Nun’s Hospital at Tisdale. Hospital work was the full of Anna’s career until she retired in 1989 and she loved it. Having worked at Trail BC, and Tisdale, Craik, and Melfort SK, she worked the bulk of her career at City Hospital in Saskatoon. She worked various units on a long term basis over her 30 years at City, such as Isolation and East 2, and finished her career with her last 10 years as ward clerk for OR. Anna loved her work, was well respected and viewed as highly competent. There are surgeons who still have recently said she was a wonderful positive competent person, always friendly and supportive, and ran a very tight ship.
Anna and her (second) husband Joe of 35 years lived life to the utmost of their ability with Joe having survived a debilitating stroke early in their marriage. Joe had mountainness challenges and together they soldiered their many obstacles at every turn. Theirs was not an easy journey. It was a hero’s journey on both their parts. It was a continuous experience of fortitude and adaptation. Anna was one of the most incredible people throughout their many challenges, carrying tremendous light and love forward wherein their spirits always came back to the foreground.
Anna and Joe enjoyed joking, cards, bowling, fishing, camping and travelling, and made many camping trips with siblings and friends. They were active travellers with the Good Sam Group for a number of years. They loved to socialize, travel, and laugh, and continued operating their own camper van for as long as possible.
Prior to Joe, Anna was previously married. Working full-time she gave of tremendous love, care, and support in raising her family and supporting their needs and growing. She loved all her children tremendously and enjoyed to have as much time as possible with them throughout their lives. She loved to support all their efforts from sports and athletics to scouting and cadets, to travelling and retiring. She also loved the experience of sharing in the grandchildren and being able to spend time with her grandchildren at whatever age and activity that could be. Anna also had the horrific experience and misery of losing a child to accidental death. Now united with that lad, they dance the nights to early morn.
Anna was very involved in the community having given many years to Alanon and support to women and families; to years of volunteer time in the support of her union; to the CWL for many decades working the many fundraisers and volunteer work; to giving time to helping her community at Columbia Manor with many activities over the two decades she lived there; and to assisting at St Anne’s Care Home over the many years Joe resided there
Her competent, loving, caring practice was carried into all aspects of her life and could always be witnessed in her daily practice.
Anna is survived by her children Terri Ducie, Beverly LaPointe, and Wes (Treena Dobson) LaPointe; her stepsons Andrew (Anita) and Scott Kondraski; her grandchildren Jodi (Jody), Chad (Christina), Tim (Leona), Tammy (Robert), Tracie (Matthew) and Louis; her great grandchildren Parker, Baylee, Elisha, Dominic, Peyton, Avery, Brynn, and Briken; her siblings Gladys Huckle, Norman (Alice) Demish, Isabel Bridges, and Bill (Betty) Demish; sister-in-law Mary Sawatzky; many nieces and nephews; and long-time special friend Lorraine Kenaschuck.
