It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, brother, uncle and grandpa, Arnie, on August 20, 2021 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan after a three year fight with cancer.
Arnie was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan on September 30, 1941. He grew up in the Macklin/Cactus Lake region where he met and then married Pearl Sieben on October 8th 1962 and they eventually settled in Saskatoon, where they raised their family of four.
Arnie was employed by PCS Allan for over 40 years as an industrial mechanic. He was a highly respected worker and he made lifelong friends at the potash mine. After retiring, Arnie spent much of his time at the cabin that he built at Meeting Lake, which the family has enjoyed since 1977.
Arnie was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed these activities until his very last days. His deep love of hunting and fishing was passed down to his sons and grandsons. He was well known for his fileting skills and his deer sausage, which he shared liberally. Arnie also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and bunnock. Arnie liked getting his hands dirty, was a jack-of-all trades and was always busy. He liked tinkering and fixing things. Let's not forget his love of garage sales!
Arnie was predeceased by his father, August Loehndorf and his mother, Mary Loehndorf, as well as his 1st born son, Robert Loehndorf. He is survived by his children Debra Loehndorf (Chantel & Steven with Aurorah, Ezrah), Dave Loehndorf (Carmela, Brandon & Melanie, Cassandra & Khris) Brenda Johnson (Denny, Brittany & Austin, Katie & Cosme, Taylor), Daughter in Law Susan (Kyle & Niki, Kayla & Gareth with Maisie, Maddox) his brothers and sisters, their spouses and their extended families. We would also like to acknowledge Dad's companion, Betty.
He was thankful for family and friends and loved and appreciated the opportunity to see those he was able to before he passed.
A Memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Dr.) in Saskatoon. As this would have been Arnie's 80th birthday, we are wanting you to help us remember him and celebrate his life. This will be followed by a lunch and a time of sharing memories and stories.
Condolences may be left here. Arrangements in care of Aimé Laventure – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
We will be adhering to any covid regulations.
