Barry was predeceased by his mother and father, Dorothy and Wilfred Diederich; brother, Dennis Diederich; nephew, Todd Diederich; and great-niece, Carly Diederich.
He is greatly missed by his daughters, Haley (Sean) and Paige and his two granddaughters, Piper and Olivia. His loss will also be felt by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry (Darlene); Roydon (Carolyn); Murray (Irene); Rick (Claudia); Brian (Lynda); and his sister-in-law, Sonia as well as his nieces and nephews: Trent (Carol); Wesley; Jerry (Shelli); Cory (Cheryl); Tammy (Mike Ogden); Candice; Allyson (Rob); Stacey; Kristen (Greg Faas); Chase; Kira (Devon Reese); and Colten (Kris) as well as numerous other family, friends, and incredible neighbours.
Barry was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan. At the age of 13, the family moved to Saskatoon where Barry attended Holy Cross High School for one semester. When the family moved across the city, he finished his remaining high school education at E.D. Feehan Catholic High School, graduating in 1979.
He continued his education going on to receive his Sprinkler and Pipefitter Red Seal Journeyman’s tickets. He flourished in his career, receiving his 40-year pin from UA Local 179. Barry had a talent for fixing things. He was the first to volunteer to help a friend or even a stranger.
He loved spending time at the cabin at Wakaw Lake. It was his favourite place to be. He also loved his trips to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Jaco, Costa Rica; and Las Vegas where he enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters-in-law.
He loved to tutor his daughters in math and mechanics, keeping a chalk board in the garage for those important lessons. Barry was always on the go, whether working on a home project or doing jobs around the cabin, there was always something to do, and he would do it.
He was the strongest man and hero to his daughters and granddaughters. He fought an amazing fight.
They are so proud to call him Dad.
