It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverly (Bev) MacLeod, age 67, on October 2, 2025. She was surrounded - physically and in spirit - by family and friends as her courageous battle with cancer came to an end.
Bev was predeceased by her parents, Ella and Peter. She is survived by her sister Audrey (and nieces Emily and Caroline), daughter Ashley (Srdjan); son Kalen (April); as well as her four grandchildren: Ella, Jade, Levi, and Mason.
Bev loved living life to its fullest. Born in Kamsack, SK on August 11, 1958, she was the eldest daughter of Ella and Peter. With many fond and cherished memories, she remained on the family farm until pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Saskatchewan. After years of studious dedication sprinkled with some late-night fun, she graduated in 1981.
Following her passion, Bev worked in several areas across Canada - from Western Canada to the East Coast. She met many lifelong friends and her former husband, Arnold, throughout the next decade and a half of her life. In 1997, Bev re-established her prairie roots in Saskatoon and eventually hit the jackpot working with dozens of skillful, supportive professionals and amazing patients (and families) at the Kinsmen Children’s Centre. Even though she retired as a physiotherapist in 2022, she continued to use her skills (sometimes unsolicited) on her developing grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Bev had a strong love for her friends and for music. She made the most of her time, and was rarely idle. Her children would joke that she had more of a social life than either of them! Folk Festivals were a highlight of her summer months. Year after year, she prioritized attending Folk Festivals in Canmore, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, and Winnipeg.
We owe a sincere and special thank you to all of the people who helped our mother through her journey over the past two and a half years. Dr. Wood, your thorough care and your willingness to work with us from afar was greatly appreciated. Dr. Chalchal, John, Stephanie, Delee, and the fabulous team at Allan Blair Cancer Centre, your compassion and dedication were top-notch. To the staff and residents at Green Falls Landing, thank you for being a warm and welcoming home away from home for our mother. To the many palliative home care workers who assisted us, thank you for the kindness and support you provided. Jenna, Dr. Baumann, and the angels on earth (a.k.a. the phenomenal crew at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice), we will forever be grateful for your gentle guidance and the comfort you all provided us with during the very last stage of our mother’s life. Last but definitely not least, a huge thank you to all of the friends and family who stood beside us and helped make this journey a little bit easier.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Mourning Glory - Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive), Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Easter Seals or SaskAbilities.
We cannot tell what may happen to us in the strange medley of life. But we can decide what happens in us - how we can take it, what we do with it - and that is what really counts in the end. How to take the raw stuff of life and make it a thing of worth and beauty - that is the test of living. - Joseph Fort Newton
