(Cal to everyone who knew him). In the arms of his wife, Carole, Cal watched his last sunrise on July 26th, 2024.
Cal was born on April 17, 1956 in Saskatoon, SK. Fondly remembered by his wife, Carole Carter, his son David Carter, step-children Connor Morrison and Kari (Erik) Norris and grandchildren Elliot and Ari.
Cal met the love of his life Carole in 2008 and married in 2011. Together they embraced a life attitude, “living in the moment”. Many would say Cal was one of the most interesting men they had ever met. His interests were varied from road adventures in the Corvette, to cooking exotic meals, stain glass creations, growing exotic orchids and even woodturning. He always had the “all in attitude”. Cal gave everything his maximum effort, determined to master new skills. He was insatiable when it came to learning and growing as a person.
From 1982-2004, Cal served with distinction in the Canadian Forces where he developed a well-deserved reputation as a highly principled, creative, team-focussed and goal-oriented officer. He retired as a decorated Major in the specialist Training Development Branch. A notable highlight near the end of his career was a challenging 6-month deployment to Sierra Leone, Africa. He commonly said his service in the Canadian Forces was his source of professional pride.
Cal and Carole created their “Happy Place” in retirement at their cabin on Lake Diefenbaker. They loved to fish together, enjoyed walks with their dog, Cooper and shared time at the lake with their family and close friends. Cal’s infectious smile, sense of humour and ability to captivate his audience with his many stories will truly be missed.
On August 9, 2024, join us in a Celebration of Life honouring Cal @ The Glen at Crossmount
between 1:00 pm-4:00 pm located on highway 219, 5 kms south of Saskatoon.
As Cal was an avid storyteller, we invite one and all to come and share their stories in his memory.
