It is with extreme sadness the family of Candice Leigh (nee Lammers) Brownell share the news of her passing on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Candice passed away surrounded by the love of her life Greg and her close family. She fought a courageous battle with Cancer for nearly five years. Candice leaves behind her husband of nearly 10 years, Greg; son Levi and daughter Claire. She is survived by her father Jerry, brother Dustin (Ladine) Lammers, nieces Sofia and Stella, Ken and Diane Brownell, Rory (Andrea) Brownell, nephew Jeremy and niece Alexis, and Darren (Briana) Brownell.
Candice is predeceased by her Mother, Colette; Grandparents Karl and Helen Lammers, Raymond and Mary Konecsni; Uncle and Aunt, Ron and Betty Lammers; Uncles Jim and Don Walker; and cousin Doug Lammers.
Candice was born in Calgary on December 1, 1979 but she grew up in Saskatoon. She attended St. Angela Elementary School and Aden Bowman Collegiate. She graduated from the U of S with Great Distinction. Candice has a love of American History, and the adventure of travel. She combined the two when her and Colette travelled into Washington DC, New York City and Boston where the museums and historical sites are famous. She has also travelled to Australia, Italy, Costa Rica, U.S.A and South America.
Candice was involved in many sports but softball was her favourite. She has a skill for creative writing (specifically short stories) and won a writing award in her high school graduating year. Candice had a love for the Saskatoon Blades which blossomed at an early age and continued with Greg as they shared season tickets to the games.
She met Greg in 2009 and they married on July 14, 2012. Levi was born on July 6, 2013 and her life as a Mother began. Claire followed on December 30, 2016, and her family was complete. Candice’s life centered around her family and the kids’ activities. She loved to volunteer at their schools and attended all the events she could.
In the fall of 2017, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and the battle of her life began. She courageously fought through surgeries, chemo, and radiation treatments. Candice never lost hope and continued to live her life as a shining example of determination and will. Although her death is sudden and heartbreaking, her family can take solace to know her pain has ended, and she can finally rest.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her good friend Gord Sulik for his enduring support and love, Dr. Conly, the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic, ICU Dr. Sabrina Valiant, ICU Nurses Kelsey and Lindsay and every health care worker who helped along the way.
The family will be Celebrating Candice’s Life at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon). Live stream is available at www.faithproductions.ca/livestream Arrangements in care of Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
