He is survived by and will always be missed by his wife Rhea, brother-in law Ed (Andy) Senger, brother-in-law Ron (Elsie) Senger and sister-in-law Barb.
He obtained his Mechanical Engineering degree in Wales. In 1960 he emigrated to Canada and became a proud Canadian. He worked in various companies in Calgary and ended up his career with Canada Post designing the large mail sorting plant in Toronto.
He was passionate about music. He had a gift for singing and acting. Music was always on in the Parsons’ house. In Calgary he was a proud member of the chorus of the Symphony orchestra for ten years and spent another ten years acting and singing in the Opera chorus. Of course, this was quite foreign to the Senger family as they grew up on Western music, but he eventually learned to sing along with them!
He found great joy in loving Rhea and the Senger family and often told them. He spent time with the extended family at many joyous birthdays and other family occasions. He hugged you whether you wanted a hug or not! He felt privileged to get together with the considerate and special nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was amazed by the bond the Sengers have for each other. And he felt, in his words, “lucky” to have them as family.
Carl loved golfing and became quite good at it – often golfing a number equalling his age. For many years he walked the courses. in the last few years, it became necessary to use a cart, due to failing health. He never gave up and enjoyed the sport. He loved most sports and became quite proficient in understanding the rules of various games.
He created a bond at coffee with many of the “Allan” crew. He was so happy to be a part of the group and they spent many coffee breaks laughing, talking and teasing one another. We won’t mention names for fear of missing someone, but you know who you are.
And friends – he felt fortunate to always have their support and love. He enjoyed meeting with them, appreciating the laughter and fun with them all. A special trip was going to Greenwater Lake staying at the B&B with friends, golfing and just having a good time.
He was dealt some difficult cards in life but handled each with grace and dignity, surpassing all hardships and truly succeeding. He will be missed for a multitude of reasons but his legacy will live on through memories of his smile, infectious laugh and encouraging attitude. In special memory, he asked that we all guard our friendships and family and hold them close.
We would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Glengarda Hospice for their kindness and compassion during his journey.
