According to her mother Agnes, Catherine was born on a cold stormy night on January 27, 1947. You could say she came out with a bang. She grew up and lived in Beardy's until 21 years of age. She also became a mother at 21 years of age with Dale. She had gotten ill and spent time at the Saskatoon Sanatorium for six months where she met her husband the love of her life Raymond Bear. They married in 1970 and moved to Whitecap Dakota First Nation (Moosewoods). They built their life together and went on to have ten children five boys and five girls, numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
