Dave passed away peacefully on September 9, 2016. Loving and devoted Dad and Grampa, he will be in our hearts forever and always loved by his daughter Marian (Wes) Williams and his two bright lights, cherished grandchildren, Benjamin and Grace. Dave is also survived by siblings Helen Sutherland, Marie Winsel, Gordon (Donna) Currie, and Keith (Carole) Currie, and nieces and nephews; as well as Don Campbell, Spencer Murray and many friends. Dad excelled as an electrical & heating contractor, operating Currie Electric for over 40 years and was a “fixer of all” for his family. He was very devoted to community service in Delisle, sitting on Town Council, the Credit Union Board, and most notably, faithfully serving as Fire Chief for the Delisle & District Fire Service for 34 years. Dave’s passion to help those in emergency situations was instrumental in the shaping of a robust rural fire and ambulance service, which he took great pride in. Dad loved spending time with his grandkids and was so proud to be Grampa. Dave was an avid fisherman, loved reading, enjoyed golf, curling, hunting (especially with his great nephew Cam), as well as his time as a member of the Delisle Seniors. A special thank you to Kevin and Michelle Sutherland for their love and support, and to Glenn Hilton for your Sunday visits that Dad so enjoyed. A heartfelt thank you to our Sherbrooke Community Centre Family that connected with and cared for Dad since 2011; to all his favourite gals there – he loved your spunk and kindness, and to CJ and Ramsay, we are forever grateful for your special bond with him. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Dad, donations may be made to the Delisle & District Fire Department or the Sherbrooke Community Foundation.
