

Delmar Brick, 83, of Saskatoon passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, following complications from COVID-19. He was born to parents Fergus and Gwen Brick on February 21, 1941, in Kindersley, Saskatchewan.
He married Delorus, the love of his life, in 1965, who survives him. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in March. Delmar is survived by his children Jeff (Connie), Leslie (Darren), Jason (Dana) and Trevor (Marnee). He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Colton, Taylor, Evan, Neena, Shaylin, Aiden, Mckenzie and Abigail. He was proud of his grandchildren and celebrated their many achievements. Delmar was predeceased by his parents, his brother Garth, and his granddaughter Megan. He is survived by his sisters Valerie (Jack) and Marilyn (Virgil), and brothers Harvey (Lucy), Rod (Lynn), and Kelly (Lorraine).
Delmar attended St. Paul’s School, a collegiate for Catholic boys. Following high school, he went on to earn certificates in bricklaying and steam engineering. Delmar’s early work life was spent traveling around Saskatchewan working as a bricklayer and laborer on gas pipeline construction. Delmar and his brother Harvey built many cinder block basements for cottages in the resort village of Shields at Blackstrap Lake. His certification as a steam engineer led him to jobs with Silverwood Dairy and SaskPower. Delmar’s first job with SaskPower was at EGS Power Station in Estevan and then at Queen Elizabeth Power Station in Saskatoon (QE) where he concluded his career. He had a special knack for keeping the steam turbines at QE operating.
Delmar played many sports growing up, including stopping pucks as a goalie using a custom-fitted fiberglass mask. Delmar and Delorus enjoyed golfing together at the Silverwood and Holiday Park golf courses. After his children were born, he was actively involved in coaching minor sports including hockey and softball. Delmar was known for his love of baseball. Initially a Yankees fan, he later became a diehard Blue Jays fan known for always wearing his trademark Blue Jays cap.
Delmar and Delorus could be found sitting in their recliners watching every televised Blue Jays game. Some of his best memories were trips to watch the Blue Jays play in the SkyDome.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Parish in Saskatoon, with reception immediately following.
