It is with extreme heartbreak and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our precious son and brother Dillon Schwartzenberger on January 3, 2022 at the age of 28. Dillon loved every sport but excelled at hockey at a young age. He played minor hockey in Saskatoon before moving to Notre Dame to play for the junior “A” Hounds. From there Dillon went on to play NCAA hockey at Concordia University in Wisconsin. On every team, he played with teammates who have become his lifelong friends. He was an avid fan of many teams but none more than his Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. He loved going to the cabin at Turtle Lake to spend time with family, his new found sport of hunting, playing cards, games and his time going to Bingo with this grandma Anne. Dillon had a special place in the hearts of many friends, their parents and the young crew that he led while employed at Western Homes. His sense of humour, energy, pride in workmanship and his work ethic will be dearly missed by all those at work and by those he touched in his life. Dillon was born on March 22, 1993 to Patty and Blair Schwartzenberger in Saskatoon. He attended Roland Michener and Silverspring Elementary Schools and Centennial Collegiate. Dillon is survived by his loving parents Patty Kirk-Porter and Greg Porter, his sister Katie (Dylan Macnab), brother Chase (Karlie Diebel) Porter and sisters Tate (Fiance Macarther Bell) and Reese Porter as well as his grandparents Anne Kirk, Nel and Harvey Heckel, Gary and Barb Porter and Ray Schwartzenberger as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and best buddies Ashton, Boston, Matt and numerous other close friends. He was predeceased by his father Blair in 2001, grandfather Dalton Kirk in 2018 and uncle Al Raven in 2017. A Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated by Fr. David Tumback on Tuesday January 11 at St. Patrick’s Parish (3339 Centennial Drive) at 1:00 p.m. Live streaming will be available for those unable to attend at www.faithproductions.ca/livestream . A Private Family Interment will be held at a later date. A Party to Celebrate Dillon’s Life will be held late this summer. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (1300-2300 Yonge Street Toronto, ON M4P 1E4). Arrangements in care of Chelsea Krentz– Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
