Donald Wayne Macek

It is with great sadness we announce the passing Don Macek on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the age of 68 years. Don passed away at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon surrounded by his family. He will be sadly missed and always hold a special place in our hearts.

Don was born on February 26, 1955 to the late Paul and Edna (nee Zurawell) Macek. He remained in the Veregin area his entire life where he attended his early years of school at the Smerinie school. He graduated from Kamsack Collegiate in June of 1972. On April 23, 1977 Don married his high school sweetheart Pat and together they planted roots on the family farm north of Veregin, Saskatchewan. Don began working for the CN Railway in 1972 at the age of 18 years along with farming the family farm and he devoted many years to doing so.

On May 14, 1986 they welcomed their son Tabber and on September 11, 1994 their daughter Teala.

Don was hard working, generous and a patient man with a heart of gold. He loved his work and what he did for a living. He also enjoyed the outdoors which involved many hours of fishing, hunting and snowmobiling in the winter.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Pat (nee Pluta) Macek, son Tabber, daughter Teala, sister-in-law Deb Macek of Saskatoon, brother-in-law Bob and Syd Pluta of Kamsack as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family burial will take place at a late date.
