Our beautiful Mother’s prayer was granted on February 4 when she was quietly taken to be with her Lord, Jesus, and the love of her earthly life, “Eddie”. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Mom was born on March 14, 1921 in Clemens, SK and soon moved with her family to Saskatoon, where she spent most of her life. On her 17th Birthday, she met Ed Dunlop and they married on June 11, 1941. It was truly a “marriage made in heaven”, making them joyfully inseparable for 69 years, until Dad’s death in 2010. Mom devoted her life to Jesus, her family and friends. She was a woman of strong Christian faith and an active member in Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years. Mom was a devoted wife and mother. While raising their five children in Saskatoon she was a fervent encourager of Dad and her children – in all their activities and dreams. They were raised on her wonderful cooking, the preparation of which gave her great pleasure. Home was where her heart was, where she could be with those she loved most – her family and friends. Mom and Dad loved to travel - on weekend and holiday trips in their family trailer and on two memorable trips to the Holy Land. Mom enjoyed her work at The Bay, where she was affectionately known as “the Bra Lady” and made many friends there over the years. Mom and Dad were the first inhabitants of Emmanuel Village and enjoyed their friends there until their move into The Bentley. Mom will be remembered for her love of Jesus, for the love she shared with so many family and friends, for the countless stories she told of years gone by, and for her beautiful smile - that brought sunshine to every setting. Mom will be forever cherished by her family: Allen (Camille) Dunlop, Saskatoon; Jacquie (Glenn) Bly-Rutherford, Saskatoon; Patti (Bob) Thompson, Kelowna; Ted (Trace) Dunlop, Saskatoon; Bobbi (Rim) Shepetys, Calgary; 15 Grandchildren and 29 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Anna Rankin; and In-laws, Phyllis McLeod and Hal Dunlop; as well as several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her Parents, Robert and Ella McLeod; Husband, Ed Dunlop; Brother, Blake Dunlop; Sister, Mona Dunlop; Son-in-law, Al Bly; Grandson, Chad Dunlop; and Brother-in-law, Doug Rankin. The family expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Hugh McKee for his wonderful care of Mom over the years and to the staff of the 6200 Convalescent Unit at Saskatoon City Hospital for their care of Mom. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Emmanuel Baptist Church (Taylor Street and Acadia Drive, Saskatoon). In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Parkinson Society. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel and David Schurr – MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306-978-5200). www.mourningglory.ca
