It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of a beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend Douglas Rolland Royal. Douglas passed away peacefully at his residence on Whitecap Dakota Nation on May 20, 2025.
Douglas leaves to mourn five brothers: Floyd, Carl, Frank (Colette), Cyrus and Ryan; two sisters Cecile and Karen; special nephew Jonathan.
Douglas was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Paul Littlecrow and Catherine Peters; paternal grandparents Robert Royal and Martha Redbear; parents Maurice and Pauline Royal; brothers Irvin and Eldon; sisters Yvonne and Norma. Douglas attended school at Whitecap, Brunskill, Nutana and Culinary school in Duck Lake. Douglas worked various jobs in Saskatchewan and Winnipeg, including the construction of Charles Red Hawk Elementary School.
Douglas had many interests: listening to music, traveling, visiting friends, cooking, drawing, playing cards and board games especially Monopoly, he was also an avid fan of the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Douglas had many friends throughout his life, he always helped those in need with his generous caring nature. Douglas never had children of his own, but he always adored all his nieces and nephews.
Douglas gave his life to The Lord.
The Wake Service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Charles Red Hawk Elementary School gymnasium in Whitecap Dakota Nation and the Funeral Service will be held Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the same location with burial to follow at Whitecap Dakota Nation Cemetery.
