June 25, 1925 to May 13, 2014
Eda Maria Morris passed away peacefully on May 13, 2014 at the age of 88 years. If anyone has ever earned a place in Heaven it is Eda. We take comfort in the fact that she now reposes in the loving arms of the Lord. Born in 1925 to immigrant parents, and imbued with strength of spirit imparted by them and engendered by the challenges of growing up in rural Saskatchewan during the 1930’s, Eda embodied the principle of family first. Eda was a woman with a seemingly boundless inner strength, a strength that allowed her to overcome the many obstacles that life placed in her way. To any and all, it was clear that Eda’s focus in life was her family. She put their well being above all else, even at the expense of her own welfare. Eda will be remembered as a loving, wonderful and caring mother who displayed a remarkable selflessness as she worked tirelessly, as a single parent, to give her children the best she could in very trying personal circumstances. She was extremely proud of the accomplishments of her children. As proud as she was of her children (Walter and Mellodee), she maintained a special place in her heart for each of her grandchildren (Aleasha, Wade, Chad, Rhae Lynne). In the achievements of her children, and in those of her grandchildren, she found the realization of many of her life’s dreams. Never boastful, she delighted in their accomplishments and was always ready to give to them the most precious gift she had to offer….her time. Eda was predeceased by her father and mother, John and Elizabeth Young; brothers, Ed Young(Bernice) and Gerald Young; sisters, Frieda Williams and Olga Clemens; sisters-in-law, Joanne Young and Mary Young and brother-in-law, Jack Clemens. Eda leaves to cherish her memory her son, Walter Morris (Gaye); daughter, Mellodee Spichko (Don); brother, George; sisters, Doris (Steve) and Geraldine; grandchildren, Aleasha Morris (Jamie McDougald), Wade Hansen (Jackie), Chad Morris and Rhae Lynne Hansen; great grandchildren, Jaxon and Ruby McDougald, Dane, Kaiya and Coen Hansen; numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and many life long friends. The entire family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Buena Vista Personal Care Facility in Kerrobert for the time and care they so lovingly gave to Mom while she was a guest. At Eda’s request, a private service will be held at a later date. Persons so inclined, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children’s Make A Wish Foundation www.makeawish.ca.
