Edna was born and raised on a farm near McKague, SK where she had a fondness for animals, especially her horse, pig and cats. During World War II, four of her brothers enlisted in the war. Only three returned. Her brother Glenn died in action, which was devastating as she was very close to him.
Edna met Carman Slind at a dance in 1950, who she later married. They had three children: Paul, Tina and Ronald. In the early years she loved being a stay-at-home mother, then later worked at Eaton’s in both the lighting and floor coverings departments.
Edna had an active social life and enjoyed attending concerts and plays with friends. She deeply cared about people and always welcomed friends and relatives for coffee and fresh baking or a wonderful home-cooked meal. She enjoyed gardening and started composting decades before it became popular. Edna kept her binoculars handy on nature walks to help identify birds and wildflowers, especially during trips to the family cabin at Marean Lake. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her cats, and her granddog Buster.
Edna was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Anna Jane Bellamy; her husband Carman Slind; her brothers Cecil, Garnet, Glenn, Kenneth, Ronald, Delbert and Frank; and her sisters Dulcie, Iola, Erleen and Muriel.
She is survived by her brother Robert Bellamy; her children Paul, Tina and Ronald (Val); her grandchildren Sarah, Matthew, Jillian (Dennis) and Jordan (Courtney); her great-grandchildren Aaron (Jay), Logan, Alex and Oona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Luther Special Care Home for the excellent care they provided to Mom for the past eight years.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mom at a later date. She will be laid to rest at Dahlton Cemetery beside her husband but she will remain in our hearts forever.
Arrangements entrusted to Bry Levesque.
