It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mom Eugenie Nikiforuk on August 17, 2025, at the Parkridge Centre. Eugenie was born in Prescot, Lancashire, England on January 24, 1931, to William and Elizabeth Dyson. She grew up during World War II and spent many nights sleeping in her family bomb shelter.
Mom met our dad in 1952 when he was a PhD student at Manchester University. In 1957 she immigrated to Montreal, Canada and married our dad. Mom always supported Dad in his career including moving to California while Dad worked on the development of the missile head for the Avro Arrow and to Saskatoon in 1960 when he joined the Engineering faculty at the University of Saskatchewan. Mom regularly entertained Engineering students and faculty in their home and was well known for her delicious homemade treats.
Mom was a stay-at-home mom and that meant the world to us growing up. Eugenie was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Peter in 2018, her parents William and Elizabeth, sisters Olive, Elsie and Maureen and her brother Bert. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth and Adrienne, her son-in-law Bob Woytowich and her grandchildren, who she absolutely adored, Maureen (Daniel) Coe and Michael (Caylee Wist) Woytowich, as well as her brother Keith in England.
We would like to thank all the staff of the Parkridge Centre, Southridge 2, for the love and care you gave Eugenie over the past month. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Parkridge Centre Southridge 2, 110 Gropper Crescent.
A family memorial service will be held in September.
