

Evelda Janet Provost, age 95, passed away December 26, 2014 at Parkridge Extendicare, Saskatoon. She is lovingly remembered by grandchildren Jesse Stangel (Tracey Carr); Deb Stangel and daughter Maria; Lisa (Marty Park) and their son Grayson. She is also survived by sister-in-law Nellie Murphy; nephew John Ulsifer and nieces Pat Ulsifer and Evelyn Ulsifer. She was predeceased by daughter Karen Stangel and siblings Rhoda Ulsifer, Dan Murphy and Ken Murphy. Evelda married Armand (Len) Provost, a veteran of WWII, who was killed tragically in the logging industry (1948) when Karen was an infant. Evelda went on to establish her own career as a teacher, earned two degrees through night school and was the first female principal in the elementary separate school system. Evelda loved travelling and spent two years teaching in Nigeria. She was an avid golfer, bowler and bridge player. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing scrabble and liked to keep her mind sharp. Evelda was passionate about her family and her faith. She was a devoted and active member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Parish. Thank you to Parkridge staff for her care in her final years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, Catholic Foundation (123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, SK S7S 1H1). The Vigil for Evelda will be held Friday, January 2nd at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3rd at 10:30 a.m. with both services being held at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Parish (114 Kingsmere Place).
