Gabriel Ben Mackesey

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gabriel Mackesey on Friday June 7th, 2024 at the age of 42. He is survived by his parents Gerald and Cathy (Yourk) and sister Christina, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

From an early age, Gabe was involved in various sports and his athletic ability shone. Football quickly became his passion, and he went on to a very successful career with both the Saskatoon Hilltops and the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Gabe was never happier than when he was on a football field.

Gabe also had a passion for music. He loved listening to his vinyl records and playing the guitar. He was a very creative individual, and often found solace from painting, sketching or building models. He loved to entertain and was especially fond of hosting backyard barbecues.

A very charismatic individual; there weren’t many people he didn’t know, or who didn’t know him. It was difficult to go anywhere with Gabe without stopping numerous times to chat with various people. He loved his friends and his family fiercely, and he will be so deeply missed by all.

A Celebration of Gabe’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Saskatoon Hilltops Clubhouse (1620 Kilburn Avenue, Saskatoon), with a wake to follow.
