It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of George Bruce Spafford when his heart failed him at the age of 59, on September 30, 2023 at his home in Saskatoon. He was a much-loved son, brother, partner, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
Bruce (he went by his middle name) grew up in the Avalon area of Saskatoon and attended Hugh Cairns and Walter Murray high school. Bruce was very enterprising and held several jobs after high school including owning his own businesses. For the past 23 years, he worked as a manager at Superior Spray Foam where he made many friends.
Bruce was a character and made friends easily wherever he went. He always had a joke to share or a story to tell that would put a smile on your face. He adored and loved his children, always taking pride in their accomplishments and wanting the best for them. Bruce loved to travel and enjoyed many fishing and vacation trips with his family and friends. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his canine friends, cruising in his 1981 Corvette, and zipping around on his Sea-Doos.
Bruce is preceded in death by his father, George Spafford. He will be greatly missed by his long time partner, Tracy Derak, and their two children Makayla and Aiden Derak; his son Regan and grandson Noah Chickowski; daughter Shaelyn Fleury; mother Helen; siblings Warren (Gaynette), Earl (Tannis), Pam (Ron) and Alayne (Don) along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. If anyone wishes, donations in memory of Bruce can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
