It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald (Gerry) Abrams on August 11, 2025, at Royal University Hospital at the age of 68 years, Gerry went to be with the Lord after a battle with cancer.
Gerry was born on November 3, 1956, in Rosthern Saskatchewan, the second of four children.
He is survived by his loving wife Delores; two daughters Johanne (Josh) Beattie, Andrea (Nick) Kirkish; and four precious grandchildren Henry, Adelaide, Eden, and Leah. Parents Wilbert and Dora Abrams; extended children and grandchildren; two sister Arlene (Brian) Heinbigner, Gladys (George) Wall; brother Norm (Linda) Abrams; and many nieces and nephews.
Gerry is predeceased by his brother-in-law Daniel Hamm.
The highlights of his life were his two daughters and later his four grandchildren who he loved dearly. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith in 1987.
Gerry loved sports of all kinds, he started playing hockey from a young age and continued well into his later years. Gerry loved to golf and even made custom golf clubs. He played softball when he was younger where he was the team’s pitcher and he always supported the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Gerry worked at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for 32 years. After retirement he enjoyed travelling, including winters with Delores to Arizona where they made lasting friends.
In the last five years, Gerry faced many health challenges like a liver disease, a liver transplant, and bravely fought cancer until the end. His faith gave him strength through all his health difficulties.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Royal University Hospital for their outstanding care for Gerry during his hospital stay.
The Celebration of Gerry’s Life will be held at 1:00p.m. Friday August 15, 2025, at Mourning Glory Acadia McKague’s Funeral Center, 915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon. Followed by a private family burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
