We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Gerry on Thursday, December 8th, 2022 after a short but courageous battle with cancer, just shy of his 64th birthday. Gerry was born in Cudworth, SK. on December 24th, 1958 and was the oldest of 5 children. The family moved to Saskatoon in 1969. After high school Gerry briefly moved to Calgary for work. Upon returning to Saskatoon, he worked at Intercontinental Packers, PFRA, and from there moved on to his career as a leased operator.
Gerry and Shirley were married in 1989, and Leland, Ali, and Brantford followed in the years after. Gerry’s interests included motor mechanics, the Toronto Blue Jays, and fishing. He was a cruel and vicious Kaiser player, who hated to lose. Gerry was a family man, always willing to lend a hand to whoever needed. He strongly disliked “some assembly required” and ordering from drive throughs.
Gerry was predeceased by his parents Jerome and Ann Marie Dueker; father-in-law Doug Cooper; Sister Charlene Lesmeister; brother-in-law Bob Lesmeister; infant brother Richard David; brother-in-law Hugh Watt. He is deeply loved and remembered by his loving wife of 33 years Shirley; his children Leland (Morgan, daughter Munroe), Ali (Steven, baby Boy), Brantford (Megan, Daughter Rylee, Son Keaton); Siblings Danny (Myrna) Dueker, Arelene (Ray) Fayant, Lyn (Daryl) Craig, Geri (Allan) Shaw, Elmer (Lila) Cooper, Dayna (Carol) Cooper, Dorla Watt, Dave (Sheila) Cooper, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Please join us for the Celebration of Gerry’s Life at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Lakeview Free Methodist Church, (19 Glazier Road, Saskatoon, SK). Donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Canada and/or Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation.
