We are saddened to say goodbye to one of the angels on earth, Maureen Zoerb, who passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023 after a beautiful life filled with family, friends and much love. Maureen was born in Prince Albert on August 21, 1936 to Eleanor and Bordie Neil. Their family moved to Tisdale when Maureen was 12 years old and her brother Bordie was 6 years old. She enjoyed growing up in Tisdale where she met Dale, her high school sweetheart and husband of 65 years. Highlights from her early years include spending time at Kipabiskau Lake, playing tennis, skating, curling and golf.
Maureen moved to Saskatoon after high school to attend the Nursing Program at Saskatoon City Hospital. She graduated in 1957 and was always proud to be part of the nursing profession. Maureen and Dale were married on Dec 27, 1957 and went on to raise their family in Saskatoon. They had five children- Kathy, Cheryl, Derek, Darryl and Dalene. The family enjoyed many happy times at Kipabiskau Lake, camping trips to BC and Disneyland, ski trips and a special vacation in Hawaii.
Maureen was an amazing Mom who supported her children and all of their interests. She devoted herself to building a loving, close knit family. Her nine grandchildren were one of her greatest joys. In the last 5 years Maureen was thrilled to welcome 11 great grandchildren. She loved unconditionally and was a guiding light for so many family and friends. She had a presence that was welcoming and she created a legacy of love for her family. She was kind, gentle and thoughtful. Some fond memories include: her chocolate chip cookies, love of gardening and sunflowers, playing Yahtzee at the lake and being the last one at the campfire.
Maureen was an avid volunteer for many organizations including: Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation, Pride Saskatoon, St Martin’s United Church, SCH Nurses’ Alumnae, and Kipabiskau Regional Park. Maureen was community minded and a leader among her peers.
Maureen was predeceased by: her parents, son Darryl, infant son Derek, in-laws Marion and Eli Zoerb, former sister in law Donna Lyn Neil; brother in law Larry Zoerb.
She will be lovingly remembered by: husband Dale, Kathy (Lawrence) Nutting, Cheryl (Les) LaRocque, Dalene (Rick) Newton; grandchildren Dustin (Amy), Jenna (Gareth), Matthew (Emily), Steven (Krista), Denae (Ryan), Reanne, Tom (Helen), Rob (Alicia), Julia (Joel); great grandchildren Hazel, Henry, Cowan, Sammy, Jackson, Gwendolyn, Cassandra, Zoey, Oliver, Eli and Luke; brother Bordie (Joan) Neil; brother in law Melvin (Helen) Zoerb; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
