Irene May Graham (nee McCowan) passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024. Irene and her twin sister, Hazel, were born to Fred and Margaret McCowan on August 30, 1928 on a farm outside of Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. Irene spent her school years attending Quill Lake School. She began working at the Co-op store in town, then worked in the Red and White store, and the Post Office. Irene married Gordon Graham on October 12th, 1949. They lived in Quill Lake, where their two children, Kent and Landis, were born. Gordon and Irene moved the family to the Graham family farm, located southeast of Quill Lake, in the mid 60s. Irene was an avid athlete. She loved to play softball, golf, curl, and bowl. However, her true joy was found in watching her children pursue their athletic passions. Irene loved to be at the lake, on a boat, out-fishing Gordon. Irene leaves behind her daughter, Landis and her son Kyle (Erin); her daughter in law, Loree Ann and her children, Tim, Julie (David), DeeAnn (Curtis), Rena (Courtland), and Cody (Trent). She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Callie, Kessler, Ryder, Mason, Maya, Owen, Chase, Montana, Levi, Hunter, Raia, Austin, Ella, Kane, and Nash. Irene also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Gordon (2019), son Kent (2020), parents Fred and Margaret McCowan, as well as her sisters, Lillian (Bennie) Ferrie, Helen (Stan) Gryba, Hazel McCowan, Leona (Russ) Ferrie, and Edith McCowan. There will be a private graveside memorial for Irene in the spring.
