Jeanette Patricia Martin was born on July 12, 1940, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to Mildred and Walter Pocha. She passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Jeanette was pre deceased by her parents, husband Rick, son Richie and sister Susan(Chuck) Powell.
Jeanette leaves behind her cherished siblings: Brent (Sharon), Alfred (Diane), and Jerry (Kathy); her daughter Sheri (Neil) UnRuh and son Robert. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Jenna (Spencer) Braaten, Jaime (Stefan) Kolla, Dani Martin, and Makena Martin. Jeanette was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Jake, Scottie Rose, Ellie, and Odin.
Jeanette spent most of her life in Saskatoon, where she grew up as a spirited and loving young woman, always helping around the house and looking out for her siblings. She attended Pleasant Hill, King George School, and Tech. Those early years were full of fond memories that she carried with her throughout her life.
She met the love of her life, the late Richard (Rick) Daval Martin, while working at Safeway. Their connection was instant and deep, and together they built a beautiful life. After raising their family, Jeanette and Rick retired to their beloved cabin at Wakaw Lake, where they created a welcoming haven full of love, laughter, and unforgettable traditions. Hosting friends and family at the lake became a cherished part of their lives, filled with adventures, storytelling, and lasting memories.
After Rick’s passing, Jeanette moved back to Saskatoon. She resided at The Somerset, which became home to her—where she made wonderful friends and lasting memories.
Jeanette was a woman of strength and grace—never one to shy away from hard times, always pushing forward with resilience and determination. She loved curling up with a good book, whether by the fireplace or around the campfire, even in the middle of July. Though simple in her needs, she always made sure her hair and makeup were done—true to her elegant and proud spirit.
She was tough when needed, gentle when it counted, and wise in the lessons she shared with those she loved. Jeanette’s presence was steady, strong, and deeply rooted in love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her—through the good times and the hard times alike.
Her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, and the legacy of love she leaves behind will continue to shine for generations.
The family would like to thank the staff at RUH who cared for Mom.
A come-and-go memorial reception will take place on Monday, June 9, 2025 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (210 Wess Road).
