Johan Lloyd Lahti

On July 20th, Lloyd flashed the bar lights one last time and bade a final farewell to his family, friends, and former loyal patrons with his trademark knee-slapping laugh and a hearty "Last call!" Born in Toronto, ON on July 30, 1944, Lloyd leaves, to carry on with their family life, his wife Sharon (nee Scarlett), son Todd (Jan, Dana, Claire), daughter Michelle (Gord Berg, Ty, Katie) all of Saskatoon, SK and son Jay (Kami, Jack, Kamden) of Regina, SK. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Lahti of Saskatoon and his brother, Mel Lahti of Vancouver, BC. Lloyd was pre-deceased by his father, Jack Lahti.

Lloyd completed his high school education as a graduate of Aden Bowman Collegiate Institute in Saskatoon and went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He and Sharon were married in 1965 in Saskatoon. With the birth of their children and subsequently their six grandchildren, a keen interest and pride in their children's and grandchildren's educational endeavors and athletic activities developed and flourished for the rest of his life.

Lloyd's professional working career began in the management training program at Saskatoon's Sears Department Store. Ever the go-getter, they moved to Burlington, ON upon Lloyd's promotion to Sears Toronto head office as an assistant buyer, and ultimately to the position of buyer, for the toy department. After a number of years, Lloyd and Sharon embarked upon a major lifestyle change as they decided to be their own boss and own their own business. They journeyed back to Saskatchewan after purchasing the hotel in Radisson, SK, where they spent a number of years running the business and taking an active part in community events. They eventually sold the hotel in Radisson, but their career path remained within the Saskatchewan hotel industry, owning/operating hotels variously in Yorkton, Vanscoy, and Asquith where Lloyd also involved himself in town council governance.

Lloyd and Sharon enjoyed the winter months south of the border in their relaxing, warm winter getaway in Las Vegas, NV. However, they always returned to Saskatoon for the spring and summer months, during which time Lloyd would cheer on his grandchildren at their sporting events and eagerly pursue his avid interest in backyard gardening. His prized cucumbers maintain a proud heritage, spanning over a century as he annually planted and meticulously preserved the seeds originally brought to Canada by his great grandmother at the turn of the Twentieth Century.

Respecting Lloyd's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service, and floral tributes are gratefully declined. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre, Saskatoon.
