John Dugald Collins

On June 8, 2015 John passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years, at his home in Saskatoon. John was a loving, devoted husband to Yvonne, a supportive, inspirational Dad to Diane (Peter) Barrera, Colleen (Greg) Maindonald, Heather (Dale) Shockey, John (Tanya) Collins. 'Little' John, who he held close to his heart passed away too young. Beloved Grandpa to Peter, Lorena, Mark, Paul, Stephen, Daniel, Caleb, Tom. Alex and Lara. Great-Grandpa to Peter, Elisa, Mark, Saul, Ty, Jessalyn, Isabelle, Sam and Luke. John was a caring brother to Catherine, Alice, Betty, Molly, Michael, Mac and George. John will be missed by his entire extended family and friends. He had a joy of life that included farming, travelling, golfing, boating, fishing and being with his family most of all! John was a proud member of the Canadian Air Force and served overseas for three years, which included landing on Juno Beach during D-Day. He was a favourite friend to many and served as an example to all. He was a wonderful person and a role model to many with his caring personality and his love of life. A Celebration of John’s Life will take place on Monday, June 15th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Berry Barn (Berry Patch), 830 Valley Road, Saskatoon. Anyone requiring assistance with transportation can call 306-249-3503. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3) or Canadian Diabetes Association (104-2301 Ave C North, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5Z5).
