

Joseph passed away peacefully on October 19, 2023 at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care at the age of 84. Predeceased by his parents Herman and Margaret; sisters Aloysia, Mary, Catherine and Victoria; brothers Herman, Alex, Peter, Bert, Rupert and Ron. Survived by his wife Pauline; siblings Sister Hermana, Anne and Aloysia; and many nieces and nephews.
Joseph was born March 6, 1939 at Wetaskiwin, Alberta. His first twelve years of schooling took place in Alberta, followed by numerous post-secondary institutions in Canada and the United States earning two Masters in Pastoral Studies. His pastoral services started in Richmound, Saskatchewan in 1976. In 1979 he went to Dubuque, Iowa to further his studies then moved to St. Albert, Alberta in 1981 as an Oblate novitiate, and in 1990 he relocated to Saskatoon to work at Queen’s House of Retreats for three years. He left the priesthood in 1994 to pursue counselling at Catholic Family Services. Joseph married Pauline Nykiforuk on July 9, 1994. Joseph cherished his family and friends and was particularly fond of all his grandchildren and their families.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Parish (1902 Munroe Ave S, Saskatoon). Rite of Committal will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 2:15 p.m. at the Camrose Valleyview Cemetery in Camrose, Alberta.
