Born in Kerrobert, SK, the youngest of seven, there were many farming chores that occupied his early years. At the age of 18, he entered the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), where he served in WWII, as an Aero Engine Mechanic, stationed in England.
In 1947, he married Evelyn Steinhauer and shortly thereafter, joined the Loblaws Group, where he remained throughout his 40-year career.
Saskatoon had been his home for the past sixty years, where he was very dedicated in both community and church. When he retired in 1988, he was able to enjoy more time with family and his favourite activities – bowling, golf, cards, wood working, becoming quite the “billiards shark” and cheering for the Blue Jays & Roughriders!
Joe will be greeted in Heaven by his wife Evie, son-in-law Allan, his parents, brothers & sisters and many dear friends. He will be remembered lovingly by his children: Joanne, Rick (Rose), Donna (Bruce), Debra (Kerry) and Ron (Grace); as well as his 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Joe is interred with Evie, at Hillcrest Cemetery, The Last Supper Garden.
