Mom’s early years were spent on their family farm near Blaine Lake then moved with her family to the town of Ruddell to attend high school. Mom was proud to be one of the first graduates to receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan. Mom and Dad (Ken Reid) met at university and were married in 1951. Dad worked for the Federal Department of Agriculture, Livestock Division. He and mom lived briefly in Regina and Moose Jaw and then settled in Saskatoon with their young family.
Mom is survived by her daughters Terry Clark and Patti (Bob) Holtsman and was predeceased by her son Daryl Reid (Rita Sluchinski); grandchildren Morgan Clark (Todd Ferguson), Sarah Clark (Chris Fidler and son Dimitri), Jennifer Holtsman (Evan Nienaber), Daniel Holtsman (Ali Holtsman), great grandchildren Elle, Clara and Rowynn. Mom is survived by her niece Christine Viney (son Conlan) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
After caring for her young family at home, Mom learned to drive, took a nursing refresher course and enjoyed many years nursing at the Community Clinic on 2nd Avenue. Mom loved her work, mostly caring for clients and patients in the “Red” area.
Following retirement, Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling across North America, Europe, Hawaii, and Mexico but being home with their grandchildren was extra special. Dad put up a trampoline in their backyard for when the kids came – most every Sunday for supper! They attended school events, soccer games, graduations and weddings of their grandchildren. Mom enjoyed the social life at McClure Place and helped with the Congregation Care Funeral Committee at McClure United Church and later, made many friends at Preston Park 1, especially her “breakfast ladies” and the Preston Park 1 Choir. A special thank you to Novie for her friendship and care of Mom.
Needing more care, Mom moved to Keedwell Assisted Living. We thank the staff for celebrating Mom’s 97th birthday, family potluck lunches and all their care and support. Mom lived a long and healthy life, blessed by her loving family and, of course, the Blue Jays! She touched many people in her service and care for others and loved her family with all of her heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven House or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of life service will be held at McClure United Church, 4025 Taylor St. E., on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
