
Kay passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday October 12, 2010. She is survived by her sons Dan (Pearl) and Tim; five grandchildren Mark (Luana), Scott, Michael, Emily, and Kristi; one great granddaughter Lillian; brothers-in-law Bob (Maureen), and Ed (Edna); sister-in-law Isabelle Dolan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her husband Jim; parents Ben and Annie Silverthorn; brothers Don and Cliff Silverthorn; sister Perle Silverthorn; sisters-in-law Jean and Vera Silverthorn. Kay celebrated her 90th birthday in August, 2010 and lived a long and fulfilling life. She was born on a farm in Ardath, SK on August 2, 1920. She and Jim resided in Winnipeg and Saskatoon. Kay enjoyed many pursuits, but most of all is remembered for her roles as a loving mother, wife, grandma and friend. She loved to cook, bake, garden, and was an active member of Grosvenor Park United Church. She maintained a cheerful and positive approach to life until the end and will always be remembered as an individual of grace and dignity. The Funeral Service for Kay will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from Grosvenor Park United Church (407 Cumberland Avenue South) with Reverend Barry Friesen officiating. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted by the Canadian Cancer Society (104-440 2nd Ave. North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2C3). Arrangements are entrusted to John Janex of Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre 955-1600.
