March 4, 1957 - September 28th, 2024
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth Ray Thiesen on September 28th, 2024. Ken was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on March 4, 1957, the older of two boys to Bill and Kathleen Thiesen. He graduated from high school in Tisdale, where he developed a lifelong passion for sports, playing baseball, fastball, hockey and later curling and golf. Ken's love for the game led him to become a Junior Hockey referee, where he shared his enthusiasm and love of sport. That love of fairness and sports would stay with him for his entire life. Throughout his early years, Ken, in addition to the family farm, worked at various local businesses, including OK Economy, Taylors Menswear, Tisdale Cartage, and Fritzshaw Meats. In 1981, he moved to Saskatoon to pursue a career in the rail car industry, working for CP Rail, General Electric and Frontline. Ken was the proud father of two sons, Riley and Dustin. He cherished them, and his beloved grandchildren: Clarke, Leo, Jackson, Hunter, Wyatt, Hudson and Harbour. Ken was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 28 years, Darlene, who he loved dearly. Ken also had a deep love for animals, in particular his dogs Mutumbo and Jessie. Ken had a heart of gold, he was a very loving, kind, and hardworking man who will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, step daughter Stacey (Kelly) Brilz, sons Riley (Cassandra) and Dustin (Stephanie); grandchildren Clarke, Leo, Jackson, Hunter, Wyatt, Hudson and Harbour; brother Ron Thiesen (Shannon); nephew Jay (Sarah); niece Kyla (Kyle); and a wide circle of extended family. To Celebrate Ken’s Life and the joy he brought to those around him, please join us at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Windsor Chapel @ 704 Windsor St., Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital.
