Laura was born in Avonlea SK, then spent her growing up years in Prince Albert and North Battleford. She completed her nursing training at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, during which time she met her future husband Frank. They married in 1948, living on the farm south of Viscount where the city girl learned to love farm life. During those years, she discovered her talent for cooking as witnessed by her collection of thousands of recipes, developed a masterful green thumb tending her beautiful flower beds and large garden, was very involved with the United Church in Viscount from singing in the choir to being Sunday School Superintendent. She was also very active in Eastern Star. The gift of her singing voice is a treasure that will be missed by all who heard her. Many events were entertained by her singing, accompanied by her talented and treasured friend Joan Jackson playing piano. Laura and Frank enjoyed a number of winters in Apache Junction, AZ. In 1994, they moved to Saskatoon living at Elim Lodge where they made many friends and kept active in the numerous activities there. In January 2015, Laura moved to Circle Drive Special Care Home. The family extends special thanks to all the staff for the exemplary care and compassion. The Interment will be held at a later date.
