Lawrence Harold Mikituk passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025, surrounded by his cherished sons and other family members. Lawrence had major brain surgery at the end of January, and despite his amazing surgery team and the ICU medical staff, he was not able to get better. We take great solace in knowing he is now with his beloved dogs Winchester and Curly.
Lawrence was born in Saskatoon on July 2, 1949, and grew up on a farm near Elstow, SK. His upbringing on the farm taught him many skills and values, ones he instilled in his sons. Lawrence began his mechanic career working at Gursky’s garage on Highway #5. He worked hard and earned the status as a journeyman mechanic. This career took him to Naicam where he worked for Cropper Motors and to North Battleford where he worked at the Ford Dealership. He stayed a Ford Mechanic for the rest of his career eventually ending up in Saskatoon at Merlin Motors. He continued to work there until his first brain surgery which ultimately forced him into early retirement.
Lawrence is survived by his two sons: Ryan (Kimberley and grandchildren Reece, Rhett and Kalaiah) and Kyle (Val). He also leaves behind siblings: Evelyn, Lorraine, Dennis (Velma), Alvin (Ruth) and Jim (Celeste) along with many nieces and nephews. Lawrence was a dog lover and had two very special dogs until recently- Curly and Winchester. Lawrence is also survived by many life long friends and hunting buddies.
Lawrence loved vehicles and fixing them. He could diagnose what was wrong with them from hearing the problem. He spent countless hours in his garage tinkering and fixing things.
Lawrence appreciated a good amber Rum and Pepsi around a campfire or at the hunting camp. His stories made people laugh. He loved hunting and would have lived in the bush with nature and the animals if he could have. Lawrence was very proud of his grandchildren. He loved listening to their stories and getting to know them. He cheered the loudest at their sporting events and will continue to cheer from up above.
Lawrence had a twinkle in his eye and a crooked smile. He loved the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the CFL and never missed watching a game. NHL hockey was his favorite sport. He could watch game after game for hours. He felt yelling at the TV and providing guidance to the players and the coaches helped them skate harder and score more goals. He loved a good game of Kaiser, especially when he won!
Lawrence loved O’Henry chocolate bars. Smile when you eat your next one, he will be smiling back from above.
