Lionel was born on May 15, 1952, and raised on the family farm in St. Denis, surrounded by a large and loving family, friends, and relatives. In his early twenties, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, a condition he lived with throughout his life.
Lionel was an intelligent, gentle, and sweet-natured soul. He had a deep appreciation for music, books, art, and poetry. He spent several years working for and managing Tramps, a record and bookstore with locations in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and Regina. A frequent visitor to the Saskatoon main library, he read voraciously and especially enjoyed their extensive collection of art history picture books. He appreciated and admired the great painters.
Lionel was deeply loved by his family. He was predeceased by his father Leon Denis, his mother Jeannette Denis, and his older baby brother Raymond.
He is lovingly remembered by his six brothers—Marcel, George, Roger, Maurice, Roland, and Gerald—and his six sisters—Lilianne, RoseAnne, Louise, Suzanne, Simone, and Claudette.
A private family service and interment will take place at St. Denis Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be sent to Mourning Glory.
