Lucille was born on February 10, 1925 in St. Elizabeth, MB and moved as a young girl with her family to farm in the Marcelin area. Upon graduating high school, she married Steve and together they raised their family on a farm near Martins Lake, later moving to Saskatoon in 1973 where Lucille resided for 42 years. At the age of 90, she sold her house and relocated to St. Ann’s Place where she lived until her passing. Mom had 10 children, 9 of whom grew into amazing and loving adults. Her family was her most valued possession and she was always excited to hear from any of them, receive visits or display new photos. Mom had a great love of the earth, gardening both on the farm and in the city providing her family with fresh vegetables, as well as enjoying colourful flower gardens in her backyard. Her knitting hands supplied mitts, scarves, prayer shawls, blankets, and dishcloths for her family and friends. Her handsewn blue jean quilts are in many homes today. These will always be cherished as they were made with love and prayer. Mom lived her life with a deep faith in God and a strong belief in the power of praying the Rosary. The material items that Mom left behind will always be keepsakes but her love and compassion will live on through all of us. Vigil of Prayer for Lucille will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019. Both services will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 211 Ave O South, Saskatoon, SK. The Committal will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Parish or to St. Mary’s Parish Nurse Ministry.
