It is with great sadness that the family of Peggie Berggren announce that she passed away in the early hours of Saturday, January 17, 2026, with family by her side at the age of 81. Peggie is now in the arms of her Lord and Saviour.
Mom was born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, on April 17, 1944, to Betty and Herman Friesen, the youngest of five children.
Left to mourn are her daughters, Andrea Rochelle (Darryl) and Kimberley Snaith (Gordon). Grandchildren, Tyler Rochelle (Brianne), Delayna Stienstra (Harrison), and John Robson (Kaitlyn). Great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Parker Stienstra, and her dear sister and best friend, Lorna McBride (Bert), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mom, otherwise known as Nana, always had such a lively personality. Her laugh would light up a room. She had a terrific knack for fashion and always looked beautiful no matter where she was.
As much as she loved to shop, her true passion was gardening, and she wasn’t afraid to get a little dirt under her nails. Her yard was always impeccable and the envy of many. Most of her cherished summer memories in her later years were spent on the deck with her dear husband, Randy, enjoying a nice cup of coffee, listening to the birds sing, and those moments were even better if company arrived for a visit and a laugh or two.
Mom spent the last eight months residing at the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home, and she found many blessings and solitude in the beautiful courtyard garden there. Although it wasn’t her own, she found peace there and time with her thoughts.
At a very young age, Mom found her “voice.” It was discovered that she was a very gifted soprano singer. She studied music and sang in competitions as a youth and always sang in church choirs. Her talents eventually led her and two of her dear friends to start a woman’s trio that lasted for many years. Anywhere there was music, Mom was singing, and the grocery store was no exception.
Mom and Dad met at church and then married in July of 1964. They were blessed with just over 60 years of a beautiful marriage. With lots of hard work, they were able to build a cottage at Martin’s Lake and made the memories of a lifetime with their best friends, the “Martin’s Lake Clan.” They all even ventured off to Hawaii a few times together.
The love that Nana had for her grandchildren showed no bounds. She was so proud of them as they grew and began accomplishing their own endeavors. Her great-grandchildren were the icing on the cake and completely melted her heart.
Mom’s last months in a long-term facility were challenging for her, but when her sister and niece treated her to a Caramel Macchiato Coffee from Starbucks, everything was perfect, and she always looked forward to the next time with a smile.
Dear Peggie is going to be deeply missed by so many people. She was an elegant woman with a genuine heart. She loved life, but she was ready for Heaven.
We would like to say a special thanks to the staff in all the departments at Warman Mennonite Special Care Home. Mom was treated with such warmth and love. It did not go unnoticed. Thank you.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Randy, four days short of a year ago. Brothers Leonard and Norman Friesen, and sister Agnes Luepke.
By request, there will be no service.
Until we meet again, we love you.
