Reachel Margaret-Rose Erickson, age 81 years, of Saskatoon, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2016. Left to cherish her memory are: cousins George Bill Wilson, Betty (Terry) McBride and Joyce Ross; nieces Marlene Sidebottom, Caroline Monette, Charlotte (Ian) Hamilton, Margaret How, Susan (Steve) James and Sharon Reschke (Keith Domoney). Marg was predeceased by her husband, Erwin Reschke (2004); husband Emil Erickson (2014); parents Elling Dahlen (1970) and Alice Dahlen (1998); cousin Anne Harvey (2008) and niece Ruth Reschke McKay (2015). Marg was born March 14, 1934 at Valley Park. She attended Technical Collegiate in Saskatoon. While enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan, she worked one summer at the North Battleford Psychiatric Hospital. At the age of 19, she started teaching grades 5 to 8 at Sovereign. In 1954 she moved to North Battleford to teach at Alexander, McKitrick and Cairns Schools. As teacher-librarian Marg introduced a whole generation of junior high schoolers to reading books. She married Erwin Reschke in 1956 and moved to their farm near North Battleford. They were married for 48 years. After taking a firearm safety course she became better at hitting targets than Erwin. When she retired from teaching in 1986 she and Erwin travelled to Eastern Canada, Alaska, the Yukon and many winters to Hawaii. She was a prolific seamstress, sewing clothing for her 7 nieces. She crocheted stuffed animal toys as gifts for her great nieces and great nephews and cousins’ children. In 2007, she married Emil Erickson and moved to his farm at Pike Lake. The family thanks the staff in the memory care unit at Brightwater Senior Living of Stonebridge for their patience and kindness. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 2:00 PM from Acadia- McKague’s Funeral Centre (915 Acadia Dr., Saskatoon). Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. For those so wishing, donations can be made in memory of Margaret to a charity of donor’s choice.
