It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Alma Grey (Emmons), 82, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Margaret passed away peacefully on Saturday February 25, 2023 at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home.
She was born to parents George Willard Emmons and Jessie Lillian Warren, on October 29, 1940 in Northside, Saskatchewan.
Margaret met Robert Grey in 1959. They were married on July 4th, 1962 and made their home on the farm near Colonsay. With great love and pride, together they raised 5 children: Ken (Virginia Sanchez) Grey, Kevin (Marnie) Grey, Bobbie (Richard) Luymes, Cathy (Dwayne) Girard, Tracey (Graham) Busch. She was preceded in death by Robert in December 2016.
Margaret enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life including cooking, baking, sewing, knitting and gardening. Her green thumb was evident in the beautiful sprawling flower and vegetable gardens on both the farm and their acreage retirement home. Margaret also had a passion for sports and loved watching and cheering on her kids, as well as the Saskatchewan Roughriders, any chance she had.
Margaret’s love of cooking lead her to a career as a cook for 15 years in several local restaurants in the Colonsay area. After 15 years of service, she retired and her and Robert enjoyed their time on the acreage with friends and family. They were active in the senior’s community with bowling, playing cards, bocci ball and visiting friends and family whenever they could.
Margaret is survived by her sister Evelyn Reany (Spruce Grove AB) and her brother Ron Emmons (Kelowna, BC). Margaret also has 10 grandchildren Vanessa and Dustin Grey, Alastair Winton, Hannah, Daynika and Atina Luymes, Carter and Lauryn Girard and Nathan and Aiden Busch. She also has 7 great grandchildren – Jordon, Alliyah, Olivia and Annaliese Grey, Janaiah, Jayce and Jayden Sass.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday April 13 at the Colonsay Seniors Centre (on Jura Street) in Colonsay, Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan or the Saskatoon Convalescent Home.
Arrangements entrusted to David Polzen.
