Margareta Jane Atkinson

We are very saddened to announce the passing of our mother Marge Nickel Atkinson. Marge passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 11, 2018. Marge is predeceased by the loved of her life, husband, Jack Atkinson, sister Trudy Nickel, parents Isaack and Katherine Nickel and brother Hank Nickel. Marge is survived by her two daughters Debbie (Les) Willey from Mission, BC, Cheryl (Kelly) Cook from Saskatoon, SK, and son Rick (Ellen) Jones of Calgary, AB Sister Kay (Bill) Bartalotta from Mississauga, ON, brother Arnie (Lorene) Nickel from Saskatoon, SK, brother John Nickel of Rosthern, SK and sister in law Tina Nickel of Saskatoon, SK Marge will also be dearly missed and remembered by her seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Marge loved her family deeply and was very proud of all they did and accomplished. The weddings, the babies and all the special events that followed were so important and special to her.

Marge lived and worked in Saskatoon enjoying a long career at the U of S Cancer Clinic. She loved her work so much, that had it not been mandatory to retire at 65 she would have continued to work for many more years. After leaving the clinic Marge’s focus was turned to family, friends, lawn bowling, cards, her pet dog Ginger and volunteering. Always putting her heart and soul into all that she took on.

Marge’s last years were spent at Oliver Lodge. Here the staff at the Lodge became her new home and refuge. The staff in Oliver South cared for her, loved her and respected her each and every day. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the staff that touched her life in ways that we as a family couldn’t.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday January 13, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre. The Funeral Service will follow on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 10:00 am at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (915 Acadia Drive Saskatoon, SK). In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to be made to Oliver Lodge; 1406 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5. Arrangements entrusted to Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre(306.955.1600).
