It is with great sadness that the Valentine family announces the passing, on June 16, 2014, of Marion Valentine. Mom passed away peacefully, at home, with loving husband, Harry. Marion was born on July 16, 1930. One of Marion’s great loves as a young woman growing up in Glasgow was ballroom dancing, and it was at a dance hall that she met her other great love, a handsome sailor named Harry Valentine. Married on June 1st, 1957, Harry and Marion soon decided to emigrate to Canada. Marion, Harry, and their boxer Sheila crossed the Atlantic by sea, arriving in Canada in June of 1959. They soon found themselves in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and in 1965 welcomed their first child, followed shortly by another in 1966. 1974 saw the family move to Saskatoon, where Marion enjoyed the company not only of her family, but also of her beloved dogs. Irish Setters at first, then Golden Retrievers. Throughout her life, Marion greatly cherished the love and friendship of the many neighbors and parents of her boys’ soccer and hockey teammates, even if not all of them could ever completely understand her Glaswegian accent, which she never lost. Marion was predeceased by her Mother, Nancy Robertson and her Father, James Robertson. She is survived by Harry, her husband of 57 years; her sons, Ken (Deanna), Ian (Karen), and her grandchildren, Simon and Claire. As per Marion’s request, there will be no funeral service.
