May 10, 1929 – June 14, 2016
It is with sadness that the family of Mary Alice Schneider announce her passing at Samaritan Place on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Alice was born in Central Butte, SK on May 10, 1929 to Mary Margaret (O’Callaghan) and James Patrick Conway. She graduated from St. Paul’s School of Nursing in 1951 and practiced nursing at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina before moving to Dr. McRea’s office. In 1957 she married Joseph Schneider and together they raised two sons and two daughters. After the birth of her children, Alice became a stay-at-home mom and together with Joe moved the family from the prairies to the Maritimes and back between 1963 and 1969. In her younger years, Alice enjoyed curling and bowling. She was a die-hard Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. Alice was very proud of her Irish heritage. Her children and grandchildren were sources of pride and in her later years she enjoyed their visits with her and Joe at Samaritan Place. Alice was predeceased by her father James; her mother Mary Margaret; brother Patrick; infant son Patrick James; brothers Robert and Gerard (Gerry); and sisters Margaret and Eileen. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph; son Michael (Sherri) of Edmonton; daughter Arlene Sproule (Steve) and son Christopher; daughter Donna Schneider and children Dale, Mark, Amy and Kyle Daratha; son Tim (Val) and children Emerald and Nicholas; sister-in-law Marguerite Conway; and numerous nieces and nephews.
