It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Mary Cherepacha at Royal University Hospital on June 23, 2016. Mary was born on October 5, 1932 in Aberdeen to Mike and Sophie Bawkovy. She married Michael Cherepacha on June 7, 1952 and they had 3 children. Mary worked as a housekeeping supervisor at City Hospital for 35 years. She is remembered by her staff as being a great supervisor and she made many lifelong friends through work. Mary had many interests. She loved to garden, cook and entertain and was well known for her wonderful cabbage rolls, perogies and borscht. It wasn’t enough that she made them for every holiday dinner but she also made sure that all the kids and grandkids had their freezers full. Mary and Michael liked to travel and they either flew or took bus tours to various locations in Canada and the United States. They spent the summers at their cabin at Delaronde Lake where they went fishing and played many games of Kaiser with family and friends. In their retirement years, Mary and Michael were also very active in their church, seniors centre, bowling league and condo association where they made many friends. She was ‘grandma’ to her grandkids and ‘baba’ to her great-grandkids and they will always remember her unconditional love as well as the dollar she would give them when they caught their first fish. Left to mourn her passing is her loving husband of 64 years, Michael; her son Larry (Shari) and their three children Krystal (Chad) and Kashton and Emersyn, Kelsey (Jostein), Chris; her son Leonard (Ginny) and their daughter Angel (Michael) and Weston, and her daughter Natalie (Mike) and their three children Mikael (Laurie) and Ava and Makayla, Shawn (Melissa) and Grayson, Michele; and her sister Verna (Ed); as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Sophie and Mike Bawkovy; brother Carl; and sister-in-law Mary Bawkovy; niece Terry Fiddler and her family; niece Debbie Haanen; mother and father-in-law Doris and Matwey Cherepacha; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Emily and John Didur, Mary and Bill Cisecki and Alec Cisecki. She will be fondly remembered by those who shared in her life and this profound loss will linger in our hearts. The Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26th and the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016. Both services will be held at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church (1202 11th St. E.). The Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery with Father Leonid Malkov C.Ss.R presiding. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society - Saskatchewan Division, 1910 Mclntyre St., Regina, SK S4P 2R3. Arrangements in care of Lisa Ruf – Mourning Glory Funeral Services 306-978-5200
